On Monday, August 27, more than 140 golfers and philanthropists gathered at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston, MA, to support the 10th Annual “The Mike” Golf Invitational. The event, founded by Michael and Lori McKenna, is named in honor of their son Mike who was diagnosed with autism at 18 months old.
Mike has been a student at The New England Center for Children for 12 years and attends “The Mike” to watch as golfers head out on the course for a day of networking, philanthropy, and fun. The event raised more than $87,130 this year and has raised $625,000 overall.
All proceeds support the NECC Annual Fund. The Annual Fund provides resources to fund research on early intensive behavioral instruction, ensure NECC students have the best equipment to meet individual learning needs, support vocational training, provide graduate training opportunities for teachers, promote the ACE® ABA Software System, and allow NECC to share educational research findings with clinicians and teachers around the world.
The title sponsor, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, has supported the event for 10 years.
