The New England Center for Children (NECC) is excited to announce that registration is now open for the 17th annual NECC 5K Walk/Run for Autism presented by Erland Construction. This beloved community event will take place on Saturday, May 13 at 10 a.m. at the Margaret A. Neary School in Southborough.
The NECC 5K Walk/Run is a professionally timed race and a signature fundraiser supporting NECC’s mission to create a global network of educators, researchers, and programs so that those living with autism may live fuller lives. All proceeds benefit NECC’s programs and services beyond what tuition covers including vocational opportunities, student outings, specialized equipment and technology, research, and professional development. Last year, more than 600 participants including students, teachers, friends, and families raised over $190,000 for the Center.
The NECC 5K Walk/Run for Autism is a great opportunity to form a team and invite family, friends, and colleagues to join in fundraising and in the camaraderie of walking or running together on event day. Last year, 68 teams comprised of current and former staff and students, families, local business owners, and members of the autism community participated in the NECC Walk/Run for Autism.
“This family-friendly event is a favorite among our students and staff as well as supporters like this year’s presenting sponsor, Erland. It is a great way to celebrate with our neighbors in the town of Southborough, surrounding communities, and beyond,” said Jared Bouzan, MEd, NECC’s chief development officer. We look forward to our biggest turnout yet on May 13.”
The NECC 5K Walk/Run for Autism will take place rain or shine. On-site registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with a start time of 10 a.m. Registration is $25 per person and includes a race T-shirt and timing number. Following the race, participants will enjoy a free cookout lunch.
