Mike McKenna Will Walk Across U.S. for NECC and Autism Awareness

If you ask any parent, they’d say that they would go to great lengths for their children. For Mike McKenna, that length is more than 2,500 miles. This September, McKenna will walk across the U.S. to raise money for NECC, where his son has been a student for 16 years.

Worcester Red Sox to Recognize NECC During Autism Acceptance Day Game on April 30

Prior to their game on Saturday, April 30, the Worcester Red Sox will honor NECC on the field as part of its Autism Acceptance Day event. NECC will be recognized as a “Heart of Worcester” for its work helping children with autism lead fuller lives.

Elin Thorvaldsdottir is a program specialist for NECC’s Westboro I residence, who moved to the U.S. from Iceland to work for NECC and take advantage of the on-site graduate programs. A colleague nominated Thorvaldsdottir because she is a “calm, supportive, brilliant, and kind colleague and supervisor.”
