Anthony Nganga, junior systems administrator for The New England Center for Children’s (NECC)’s Information Services, was nominated by a colleague because he was “patient and persistent in helping to resolve an IT issue that resulted in all my work going missing.”
NECC Founder and CEO Vinnie Strully, Jr., was recognized for his decades-long leadership during the Massachusetts Association of Approved Special Education Schools (MAAPS) spring awards celebration. Awards were presented to teachers, clinicians, and school leaders of MAAPS member schools serving the special education community across the Commonwealth.
On June 5, more than 100 golfers gathered to celebrate the 25th annual Carlos Placido Dunkin' Golf Classic for Autism at the Franklin Country Club in Franklin, MA. The event raised more than $100,000 for The New England Center for Children (NECC), a research and education institution in Southborough, MA.
LC Clark, a level 2 counselor and core shift manager for NECC’s Brewer Lane residence, has worked for NECC for three years. Clark was nominated by multiple colleagues because of their strong and efficient management skills and the support and guidance they have given others while on shift.
In April, The New England Center for Children opened the Allied Health Clinic in Dubai. Located in Dubai Healthcare City, the Allied Health Clinic is a pediatric specialty clinic that provides one-on-one or group occupational therapy and speech and language therapy across a variety of diagnoses and severity levels.
Fatou Njie-Jallow, MHA, director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at NECC, began her career at NECC more than 22 years ago as a teacher. She was nominated by colleagues because she’s “an amazing woman who takes the time to actually listen to you and make you feel heard and seen.”
On Friday, May 19, 23 staff from The New England Center for Children (NECC) received their Master of Science in Education with an autism specialization designation degree from Simmons University during their 2023 Commencement.
Taylor Bolitho, a level 1 teacher and core shift manager (CSM) for The New England Center for Children’s Francine Road residence, has worked for NECC for five years. She was nominated by a colleague because she “always has the most positive attitude” and is “always advocating for staff and students!”
The New England Center for Children held its fifth annual art show showcasing the incredible talent of NECC students, staff, and local artists. The event, which was hosted by David and Elizabeth Wetherbee Klein, a member of NECC’s Board of Directors, raised more than $14,000 for NECC’s Annual Fund.
For the last couple of years, the COVID pandemic and a national staffing shortage have burdened NECC staff and restricted the availability of extracurricular activities for students. While NECC’s staff count has been slowly increasing, this fall, the Center received an influx of help in the form of international staff.
