45 Stories of Inspiration: Health Services

The NECC Health Services Department started with two nurses and one administrative assistant, and has grown to include12 nurses, 3 nurse practitioners, an operations manager and 2 administrative staff. Much more than a typical nurse’s office at a school, the comprehensive care that this department provides our students with autism ranges from everyday minor illness to managing chronic and acute illness.

With exam rooms, medical records, and medical equipment, HSD operates much like a community health clinic. The dedication and flexibility of the team is evident in all they do, and the grace with which they took on managing biweekly COVID testing for hundreds of staff shows how truly special they are.
