Background:

The new John and Diane Kim Autism Institute at The New England Center for Children® (houses research, professional training, and technology to educate and transform the lives of children with autism. The Autism Institute is a three-story, 33,000 square-foot building connected to NECC’s Michael S. Dukakis Aquatic Center. The Institute will expand development of interactive educational software; conduct and publish research to further the understanding and treatment of autism and related disabilities; and bolster NECC’s on-site master’s and Ph.D. degree programs in applied behavioral analysis and special education.

One in 68 children worldwide have autism, up 119% from 2000. More than 3.5 million Americans live with autism. For more than 40 years, NECC has provided award-winning autism services including home-based, day, and residential programs; public school partnerships and consulting; and the ACE® ABA Software System used by more than 4,100 students in 24 states and nine countries.
