What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of the job is watching my students’ growth and improvements and being able to share and celebrate special moments with them!
Why did you choose a career in helping children with autism?
When I was in college, I volunteered to help with a play with kids with disabilities, and I immediately fell in love with this career. I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to grow and learn no matter what abilities you may have, and I find joy in knowing I can be a support for them.
Why NECC?
I chose NECC because of the great research and educational opportunities it offers. Also, everyone in this community cares deeply about the students.
Have you taken advantage of any of the grad programs or teacher training at NECC? If so, how has it affected your teaching style?
I am currently in my second year of the Western New England University master’s degree program. Everything I am learning is helping me to be a better teacher every day.
Who is someone you look up to?
Someone I admire is my dad because he showed me that perseverance, patience, and hard work will take you far!
What is your life philosophy or motto you like to live by?
The motto I like to live by is “one day at a time.” There can be so much to do, but it is important to handle things with grace and just take it one step at a time.
