45 Stories of Inspiration: Field Day
Each year, NECC holds a special Field Day for students. Since 1992, this event has brought together all students for a day of fun activities, carnival games, and fair food in a safe and secure environment. While the event began similar to Field Days at public schools, with much of the focus being on outdoor games, as time has progressed, the event has evolved to being a full scale production, complete with a petting zoo, carnival rides, and ice cream truck. Additionally, each year students vote on a theme for the event that the Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Adapted Physical Education, (OT, PT, and APE) Department structures the days events around.
“It is a favorite day for everyone at NECC,” says Kristen Sidman, MEd, MS, OTR/L, Director of OT, PT and APE. “Everything is centered around the kids and it’s very rewarding to watch them and their teachers have fun together.”
