Autism impacts every aspect of every
family member’s life. NECC provides
support, education, training and guidance
for all members of our students’
families. We help families develop
understanding, coping skills and the
ability to assist their children as
they progress through levels of educational,
behavioral and clinical programs.
NECC family
services vary depending on which program
the student is in and include:
- Weekly communication
with the child’s primary teacher
- Collaborative
development of individualized educational
plans
- Regular
family and child contact through
a flexible home visit schedule (residential
students)
- Continuing
education that features experts
in areas relevant to the treatment
of autism provided through the Parent
Seminar Series
- ABA Parent
Training series and in-home parent
training opportunities
- Sibling
support groups
- Clinics
and school observations to discuss
student cases and obtain parent
input
- Support
group meetings for new families
- Outreach
groups (e.g. for parents from metropolitan
New York City)
