Staff Profiles | Laura Hutt

Laura Hutt, a Speech and Language Pathologist, has been a part of The New England Center for Children’s team for six years. Laura holds an MS in Communication Disorders and certificates in both Communication Disorders and Behavior Analysis.

In her role as director, Laura and her associates work hard to help their students develop and improve their speech and to increase their understanding and use of language. With some students, Laura is also working with Alternative and Augmentative Communications programs such as Picture Exchange Communication Systems, voice output, and specialized speaking devices. Laura is able to customize these devices to each student’s needs and to teach the student to use them properly.

In addition to putting such technology at the service of the students, Laura actually assists families in securing funding for some of the more expensive computerized voice output systems. Laura takes great pride in all of her students. Some who came to her program with very little – or sometimes even nonexistent – verbal speech, have progressed to a point where family members and teachers can understand them.

When not at NECC helping to “open doors” for her students, Laura lives in Franklin with her husband, Bill, and three daughters, Ciara, Caitlin and Abby. NECC thanks Laura for her hard work and tremendous commitment!
