Staff Profiles | Bethany McNamara

As director of NECC’s Professional Development Department, Bethany
McNamara works to increase the clinical expertise of 600 members of staff through training, support and supervision opportunities. Bethany, who holds an M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis and is a certified behavior analyst, recently celebrated a decade of service to NECC. She is currently
completing her third year as Director of Professional Development.

With more than a quarter century in the field, Bethany has worked in both
public and private settings. No other center, she says, even comes close to NECC in providing staff with the resources and support to ensure that
each student advances.

“There are many reasons I’ve chosen to stay at NECC,” she says. “The first is the demonstrated commitment to providing the best quality of clinical services to the children and adults they serve.”

“Across all levels and job descriptions,” she adds, “the staff here is caring, creative, enthusiastic and dedicated to their jobs. Working in an environment like that makes it fun to come to work.”

When not at NECC, Bethany is busy at home with Dylan, two, and Cassidy who turned six months in May. Bethany and her husband, Terry, enjoy entertaining. “It isn’t unusual for us to be preparing dinner for 12 on a Sunday night,” she says. The McNamara family love the outdoors. “We live on the lake, and in the summer — between 6:00 a.m. water ski runs and end-of-day sunset cruises — we basically live outside. It’s a great way to unwind and rejuvenate.”
